Wichita Falls...................

Made great time today.............. Awesome crew change, $150 in 45 min grocery store, Fuel, Ice, Pasquale and on road..... Coyote Ranch Rv Resort 8:30 pm before dark!!!!!

Pasquale was vary impressed with this rv park he say's 10 stars...... It is nice I'll admit.. We rolled in and the paper work wasn't where it was supposed to be....Oh, well we talked with a nice lady and she said take what ever spot I wanted..............

We parked and let the cummins rest, plugged Wood-picker in & turn the a/c ALL the way down to Deep Freeze and went to the showers........... We found a rec room, pool, and water play ground, all a better idea than a shower for pas...  I had to drag him into shower house and promise him the world....

Well it's bed time........9:55pm

Day 1.1

Headed Out!!!!

377 miles 7 hours

On the road………………… Crew change day that started at 0001 May 31, that’s one minute past midnight May 31, 2011 for all you who don’t know military time. I’m on watch at 0001 off watch at 0600 (6am) but as the Good Lord had it we where sitting around waiting dock space and I was able get some extra rest before I made crew change. My relief is due on the ground in Houston at 8:30am and should be to Port Arther by 10:00am, an hour and a half back to fleet. One hour in the grocery store, fuel up, some odds & ends, this & that’s, and hope Houston/Katy Tx is no-where in my rear view mirror at 3pm.

1st Fuel stop is Waco. Fuel, stretch, ……., Wheels rolling making miles.

2nd Stop is Bowie top off the fuel just before Wichita Falls so in the morning it’s up and on the road.

Our rest stop tonight I hope to be in an rv park called Coyote Ranch Rv Resort in Wichita Falls Tx. I’ve prepaid the spot because I plan to get there after business hours. We’ll pull-in find the spot, hit the showers, and than the bed.

I’m pushing hard or at least harder than I’d like this first day in order to make the schedule for the rest of the trip more manageable. I hate driving in places I’ve never seen before at night, when you can’t see anything. Although I’ve seen almost everything between Houston and Amarillo many times, Pasquale has not. In order to make certain places on time I had to make the decision to drive at night somewhere and this is the portion I decided to do it in. Payton will get to see the area between Houston and Amarillo on the return trip home.

It’s looking like we should arrive at Coyote Ranch about 10:30pm – 11:00pm. With an hour to settle-in and shower I hope to lay down by midnight. (Earlier if lucky) The plan for Day 2 is up EARLY 5am……………….. Everything put away and on the road again by 6am. I’m shooting for KOA Santa Fe Nm. about 4pm…(3pm Local time)…. This will be a much needed break I’m sure…….. Supper with Brother & Sister AND crew’s…………

Tug & Pasquale

Palo Duro 1.3 ....................

Well Palo Duro is reopened......................... Yaaaaaaa!!!!! I tried to make reservations on-line last night to no avail. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR............... Not exactly sure of the problem, most likely operator, timing, and head space........... I've used the National Parks web site with no problem before but last night the TPWD and I just could not work things out. So, I'll get on the phone tomorrow (Monday) and see if I can reserve us a spot in Palo Duro and get tickets to the play for the Drenth's and us...

Well the times almost here.............. Can't wait..

1 more day and a wake up......

Palo Duro..............

Palo Duro is day to day.... The state keeps updating the parks website daily so who knows if the park will be reopened in a couple weeks..... Got to make alternate plans..

If Palo Duro isn't reopen by the May 31st than I'll make other plans.

One idea I have is to stay in Silverton an extra day and or spend a night along the way home somewhere of interest.

I could use this extra day to ride the train from Durango to Silverton.

I could add a day stay @ O.H. Ivie.

I could stay instead @ Caprock Canyon St. Park.

I'm thinking I'd like to stay in another state park on my bucket list of state parks............

The one thing I've learn because of this is there isn't a full service RV park with-in 1 hour of my friend in Clarendon Tx. I've searched all over the enet and can not find one...... I thought that strange..... Oh, well.

Will update and keep an eye on............................

http://amarillo.com/news/local-news/2011-05-25/palo-duro-canyon-evacuated

Well they have two weeks to open it back up............... Naw really I hope all is well in the park and if we have to find something else to do on our trip we'll just have to do it.... AND return to Palo Duro when everything's up and running again.... I have said ALL my prayers for the much needed rain all over the state..........

Counting the days til May 31....................

Reservations made today at Mesa Verde National Park...........

http://www.mesaverde.com/Slideshows/mesaverde/mvslide01.htm

Called today to check and make sure the park in Mesa Verde had spots and what all amenities it had and there was only one Full Hook Up site left so I grabbed it..................   The funny thing is everybody I've spoke to has asked me how long my camper is................ I need to measure it I guess.

Payton and I will be staying 2 days in Mesa Verde and plan to take all the tours of the Cliff Dwellings.

Loaded up and headed to work....................

Loaded everything up and left Woodville headed to Houston to catch the boat and visit some family. The truck is packed, the camper loaded, and the 4-wheeler is on the trailer. Everything towed well and did fine to Houston a quick 2hr drive from Woodville.  On my way in I stopped in Cleveland to visit a friend and get some pointers for the trip. Thanks Nancy & David for the advice Payton and I will sure be stopping at  http://www.nps.gov/cavo/index.htm ..........

I got to attend Kayle's school play............ Four stars for her great job........ And a great dinner..

I spent the night in Traders Village RV Park. What a concrete monster......... The park was nice and the spot was level, it was great for a quick in and out.. I arrived at my office at 4:45am to be picked up at 5 to be taken to the airport........ Only someone forgot in the limo company and I had no ride................ WELCOME to work.............. Counting the days.......................
