Day 3.1

Day 3.1

261 Miles 8 hr drive (Some site seeing along the way)

Up early about 4:30am in Santa Fe Nm. And on the road again by 5:30am. Pasquale and I are taking the long route today. There maybe a quicker and or shorter route to Four Corners but they don’t run through the Jemez Mountains. We’re headed north to Pojoaque Nm. than we’re following the Jemez Mountain Trail through the Jemez Mountains to Cuba Nm.

We’ve entered the home of the Anasazi, Hopi, Pueblo, and more recently the Navajo Indians. It was the Navajo whose native language was used as a code in WWII the Germans couldn’t break. The Navajo people are also proud warriors and many have served in defense of our country, a country that’s not always treated the Navajo people fairly and with the respect they’ve deserved.

1st fuel stop will be Cuba Nm. Fuel, rest, and…….Stretch. ( This is where I plan to put supper on, on the engine block that is………..)

One of the things I plan for us to see along the drive is Shiprock.

2nd fuel stop Teec Nos Pos Trading Post near Four Corners. I called ahead to check and make sure they had diesel and they do….. It’s $4.49gal. Fuel & Stretch not 30 minutes from Four Corners….

Hopefully we’ll arrive at Four Corners before 5pm, if we do we’ll be able to boondock there at Four Corners Monument.  Forecast Windy / Cloudy Hi 84 Lo 48 … If not we’ll just have to find a place close by….
